Youth in Government Youth in Government is a statewide youth educational program involving several hundred high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in a mock legislature. Although
it is a state program, Fairview H.S.
has been one of the key participants! We want to keep that
tradition going. See the information below to participate. |

The program begins in the fall when students from around the state meet in individual delegations to discuss issues facing Colorado. In the following month, delegates write bills, select governmental positions to role-play, attend a statewide training conference, and run for various elected offices. The program reaches its peak in late November when delegates congregate at the State Capitol with the convening of the three-day Model Legislature and Court. The program is sponsored by the YMCA and is open to all
interested high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
A
key focus of Youth and Government is the building of friendships among
its participants, but more importantly, to emphasize the importance of
the legislative process on society. Here is how to proceed: 2. Complete the Registration Form, attach payment, and then mail it to YMCA of Metropolitan Denver (additional information is on the registration packet). 3. Send an email Mr.
Bessett letting him know you are participating and have sent your
registration to the YMCA. Include in your
email:
fhs@getstudying.com Also, we will have a meeting, Thursday (Oct. 5) during block lunch in the Science Lecture Hall. This is for everybody, former members, new participants, or for those thinking about participating. 5. Lastly, have fun
with it all!
